What is sensorimotor development ?
This is the period 0-24 months during which the child perceives sensory signals (visual, tactile, sound, etc.) which arouse his interest and stimulate his desire to move , while fueling his cognitive development (his ability to think).
This development, if it is of good quality, helps them access their senses, feel them, and make the link between cause and effect. All of this contributes to the establishment of learning processes in line with their ages, but also to self-confidence and mental flexibility.
Why should you encourage your baby to lie down?
In a lying position, he discovers his body little by little and then gradually uses his muscles to turn, stretch, and curl up.
This discovery allows him to gain torsion, movement, without tension without constraint . By rolling up, turning, hoisting himself, moving backwards, straightening up.
