🌞 La gazette des vacances ( et des parents qui gèrent) n°2

EDITION 2 Vacation Mode Activated

Holidays, that time when everything should be relaxation, lazing around and sunshine ... but with children, it's often a joyful mess, a cocktail of unexpected events, shouts and cuddles.

So, welcome to the real “ on vacation ” with the family: where the magic happens… sometimes with a little (a lot) of sand in your socks.

Holidays are not the Olympics

No need to plan everything down to the minute. We're leaving a little room for improvisation (and a post-picnic nap). It's okay if you didn't see THE castle recommended by TripAdvisor. If everyone ate ice cream without getting it everywhere, that's already a victory.

So, we plan... but not too much

It's good to have a plan. It's even better to anticipate that things won't go as planned. Yes, you booked the 10 a.m. guided tour, but if your little one decides to go on a walking strike that day, take a deep breath, find a ride, and skip the museum. The best memories are often made between two unexpected events.

Planning is good. Overplanning is exhausting.

No need for crazy activities every day. A snack in the grass, a barefoot walk, a ladybug hunt, and presto: a successful day.
Kids don't care about "Instagrammable" stuff — they just want fun and our availability (and chips, always chips).

Parenthack : Remember to type “playground + city name” into Google Maps; it can save a failed visit.

We keep a little routine (but we let go)

You can forget about schedules down to the minute, but reassuring rituals come in the suitcase. A little bedtime book, a nightlight, or even their favorite pillowcase (hello Mezame 👋 )... it helps them fall asleep, even in an unfamiliar bed.

And if bedtime slips a little, it doesn't matter, due to a misunderstanding you might have a lie-in (yes, going from 8am to 7am is a lie-in no matter what anyone says)

Parents also have the right to enjoy themselves

This is a public service reminder: you also have the right to be on vacation. If that means having a coffee alone for 10 minutes or delegating the post-beach tidying up to the co-parent to do a crossword puzzle, then GO FOR IT

And above all, let go of the pressure . No one is asking you to be perfect. Just to be there, with your children, at least equipped, and with a slightly lighter heart.

Team tip: Mix up a cocktail just for you in a stylish water bottle. You'll look like a healthy, hydrated mom, when in fact, you're drinking grapefruit rosé under the umbrella while the kids build a pebble dam. Who's the queen again?

The “PhotoScan” app (by Google):
Scan your holiday drawings, postcards, or paper souvenirs in just two clicks. It takes up no space and is perfect for a digital holiday album or memory box later on.
