What is sensorimotor development?
It's the 0–24 month period during which a child perceives sensory signals (visual, tactile, auditory…) that spark their curiosity and encourage them to move, while also nurturing their cognitive development (their ability to think).
When this development is of good quality, it helps children access their senses, feel them, and make cause-and-effect connections. All of this contributes to the development of age-appropriate learning processes, as well as self-confidence and mental flexibility.
Why encourage your baby to lie down?
Lying down, your baby gradually discovers their body and progressively uses their muscles to roll, stretch, and curl.
This exploration allows them to develop rotation, movement, and freedom from tension. By curling up, rolling over, pulling themselves up, pushing back, and straightening.
Through all these stages of motor patterns, they gain flexibility and develop strategies for action — and therefore intelligence — because all these motor actions inform and stimulate the brain.
Why our mat is the perfect play space?
First of all, because it's large, flat, and has no raised edges. And then because, unlike many play mats on the traditional market, its base isn't made of wadding (which we use for our blankets and duvets) but of foam specially chosen with the advice of early childhood professionals to support your baby's motor development in complete safety.

Why is our life mat the perfect play space?
Our life mat stands apart from traditional play mats because its density and firmness have been specifically designed to allow your baby to test their own balance safely and independently.

How can you encourage their motor development?
From the very first weeks, don't hesitate to watch your baby gently wake up to the world on their mat, simply by placing two rattles within reach of each arm.
Then during the second month, as you help them roll over, place them on their tummy to strengthen their neck muscles… just a few minutes to start with. -
And why does playing at a child's level matter?
Sharing moments with our children really matters!
Being at their level helps the child understand that they are a fully individual person, because you can then look them eye to eye — a sign that you truly value them.
This eye-to-eye gaze is one of the foundations of the quality of our relationships with others.
