The recipe for happiness in the bathroom!

La recette du bonheur dans la salle de bains !
💦 Baby's bath isn't just about a colorful duck or a sprinkler being sprinkled. This ritual is about building parent-child trust: a mutual discovery and a timeless connection, a bubble of gentleness in the whirlwind of everyday life.

At Mezamé, we love taking care of babies... and their parents! We strive to support you as best we can in this fantastic adventure of parenthood by adding a little more comfort to your living room, your bedroom, so why not your bathroom?

We wanted to know a little more about this magical moment that is the bath ritual , which can at first seem difficult for any new parent, especially after leaving the maternity ward, when you no longer know in what order to put the kindly given advice: how do I hold my baby's head on my arm? What is the temperature again? Can I wash his hair every day?

We chose to seek advice from Aurélie Canoville , perinatal practitioner and founder of Bien Naître&Devenir , who offers a “ rebirth bath ” to young parents for their baby, a few days after returning home.

" It's a moment of symbolic rebirth, so restorative for everyone ," especially if the birth was traumatic, or if there were gaps felt in the maternity ward. Aurélie offers this ritual in the first days of life, very gently, hand in hand with the parents. Wrapped in a swaddling cloth and gently rocked, immersed in the warmth of the bath in the fetal position, the baby rediscovers the tranquility and gentleness he knew before birth, before the transition. " The bath then becomes more than just a treatment, a special moment of sharing and deep relaxation ," which we recommend extending with a massage.

All of this can of course be reproduced at home! We are free to recreate these bubbles of softness in our daily lives by adapting this practice. Aurélie kindly reminds us: " Your baby chose you because you are the best parent for him ." So let's go for it! Not necessarily in a wrapped bath if we don't feel comfortable, our arms and our voice are amply enveloping for our little one, and the skin-to-skin that follows the bath too. We can even, if we are lucky enough to have a bathtub, try free bathing: it's a nice way to support your baby in the development of his motor skills. 🐥

And to keep it a pleasure, we'll share a few tips with you: there's no perfect time for a bath, the best time is when you're totally available , when there's no call waiting or delivery person coming, not to mention the elders who are messing around.

We're setting up the bathroom to be as comfortable as possible. We'll prepare everything we need beforehand, near the bathtub and changing table: a fitted sheet to protect the changing mat, a mini Ciao Bazar perfect for storing toiletries, a maxi-swaddle for getting out of the bath, and a smaller one for baby care #fullofMezame #fulloflove.

We also make sure to choose a gentle soap, suitable for baby's skin and whose scent we like! At Mezamé, we have a slight preference for the Minois natural skincare line, which combines clean and effective formulas with a unique scent and delicate textures, perfectly adapted to the delicate skin of our babies. We love the subtle orange blossom scent that emerges from the shower gel or bubble bath and which plunges our bathroom into a bubble of softness . We can even prolong the pleasure by adopting a 100% Minois routine, thanks to their moisturizing range (cream, balm or oil) to use without moderation, as well as the liniment-ointment combo for a safe and protective daily change, without controversial ingredients. (Pssst, by the way, we're taking the opportunity to slip you the promo code MEZAME15 here to benefit from a 15% discount on the Minois eshop until 07/31!)

And what about games ? We can start by having fun with floating animals or bath books; and then we'll quickly move on to small containers that allow you to have fun transferring . Finally, we think about storage and cleaning with our best: the storage net that lets the games dry on their own, without mold, while we go and roll around on our favorite rug 🫶🏼
