Time for an afternoon snack

Sunday cinnamon rolls (or any-day cinnamon rolls), made super simple so the kids can join in — not one of those complicated baking recipes dressed up as a family activity, with a two-and-a-half-hour rise...

You'll need:

1 rectangular sheet of puff pastry · 40 g softened butter · 50 g light brown sugar · 1 heaped tsp cinnamon · a little icing sugar

Little hands can do almost everything: spread the butter over the pastry, mix the sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle it on generously, roll up the pastry and cut it into small slices.

Lay the rolls flat on a baking tray and bake for 15–20 minutes at 180°C, until golden brown.

Dust with a little icing sugar when they come out of the oven and that's that — the whole house smells of autumn.

  • The benefits of colouring

    Colouring is a much-loved activity for children, from their very first months: you’ve probably already seen your baby happily spreading yoghurt across their high-chair tray, making sure not a single square millimetre is left untouched!

    A little later on, it’s the sofa, the walls, and sometimes even your child’s body that bear the brunt of it – preferably with permanent marker!
