The recipe for bathroom happiness!

La recette du bonheur dans la salle de bains !
💦 Bath time isn't just about rubber ducks and splashing about. Through this ritual, it's the parent-child bond that takes shape: a mutual discovery and a timeless connection, a little bubble of softness in the whirlwind of everyday life.

At Mezamé, we love taking care of babies… and their parents! We try our best to support you through this wonderful adventure of parenthood by bringing a little more comfort to your living room, your bedroom — so why not your bathroom too?

We wanted to find out a little more about this magical moment that is the bath ritual, which can feel daunting at first for any new parent — especially just home from the maternity ward, when all the well-meaning advice gets jumbled up: how do I support my baby's head on my arm? What was the right temperature again? Can I wash their hair every day?

We turned to Aurélie Canoville, a perinatal practitioner and founder of Bien Naître&Devenir, who offers a « rebirth bath » for new parents and their babies, a few days after coming home.

« It's a moment of symbolic rebirth, so deeply healing for everyone », especially when the birth was traumatic, or when there were feelings of disconnect in the maternity ward. Aurélie offers this ritual in the first days of life, with great gentleness, hand in hand with the parents. Wrapped in a muslin cloth and gently rocked, immersed in the warmth of the bath in a foetal position, the baby rediscovers the peace and softness they knew before birth, before the crossing. « The bath then becomes more than just care — it becomes a precious moment of sharing and deep relaxation » that we encourage you to follow with a gentle massage.

All of this can of course be recreated at home! We're free to bring these little bubbles of softness into our daily lives by adapting this practice. Aurélie gently reminds us: « Your baby chose you because you are the best parent for them ». So let's go for it! Not necessarily with a wrapped bath if that doesn't feel right — our arms and our voice are more than enough to wrap our little one in warmth, and the skin-to-skin after the bath is too. If we're lucky enough to have a bathtub, we can even try a free bath: it's a lovely way to support our baby's motor development. 🐥

And to keep it enjoyable, here are a few tips: there's no perfect time for a bath — the best time is when you're completely free, with no call waiting, no delivery expected, and none of the older ones causing chaos.

We set up the bathroom to be as comfortable as possible. We prepare everything we need beforehand, close to the bath and changing table: a fitted sheet to protect the changing mat, a mini Ciao Bazar — perfect for storing toiletries — a large muslin cloth for after bath time, and a smaller one for care routines. #fullofMezame #fulloflove

We also make sure to choose a gentle soap, suited to baby's skin and with a scent we love! At Mezamé, we have a soft spot for the natural skincare range by Minois, which combines clean and effective formulas with a unique fragrance and delicate textures, perfectly suited to our babies' sensitive skin. We're completely smitten with the subtle orange blossom scent that drifts from the cleansing gel or the bubble bath, wrapping our bathroom in a little cloud of softness. You can even extend the pleasure by embracing a 100% Minois routine, with their moisturising range (cream, balm or oil) to be used generously, as well as the liniment-nappy cream combo for a safe and protective nappy change every day, free from controversial ingredients. (Pssst — we're sneaking in a little treat: use the promo code MEZAME15 for 15% off on the Minois eshop until 31/10!)

And what about toys? Start with floating animals or bath books; then you'll quickly move on to little containers for pouring and filling fun. And don't forget storage and clean-up — our absolute favourite: a mesh toy bag that lets everything drip-dry on its own, mould-free, while you dash off for a roll-around on your favourite mat 🫶🏼
